Beginning next semester, however, the university will no longer publish the newsletter, since all of the information about upcoming events on campus is available over the computer on the university Web site. Display Rules

The way we choose to express our emotions is determined by the society in which we live. Sociologists suggest that unwritten codes or display rules determine when, where, and how we express our emotions. These rules, taught to children at a very young age, guide them to express socially appropriate responses to specific situations, regardless of the emotions they may actually be feeling. Understanding and using certain display rules, such as substituting one emotion for another or hiding negative feelings in order to produce a positive effect, can help a child in relationships with others.

Use the example of the professor’s daughter to explain the concept of display rules.

Task4

Using points and examples from the lecture, explain two ways omnivores avoid getting sick.
