We are reading many different works of literature this semester, so I have decided to make use of our class Web site as we cover the material. Each week. l will post questions on the Web site, and it will be your responsibility to post responses. Since there isn’t time to discuss all the material during our class sessions, I hope that these online questions will give you an opportunity to share your thoughts as we read the course assignments. Bandwagon Advertising

Companies often develop strategies to promote and sell products based on an understanding of the psychology of potential consumers. One such strategy is known as bandwagon advertising. This approach to advertising capitalizes on people’s natural tendency to want to do what other people are doing-to “get on the bandwagon “and follow the crowd Bandwagon advertisements suggest to consumers that they should purchase a product because others are purchasing it. This is often accomplished by suggesting that people who use the product possess positive qualities and have enjoyable experiences and, likewise that those who do not follow the crowd and purchase the item will be deprived of those experiences.

Explain how the example from the lecture illustrates the concept of bandwagon advertising.
