Presenting Thesis Papers

During their final year of study, fourth-year students are required to complete thesis papers. Given the amount of work that goes into writing these papers, I think students should be able to share their papers with others. I suggest that a special program be held at the end of the school year where students give presentations on their papers. This would allow interested students to hear what their friends and fellow students have been working on all year. However, I don’t think these public presentations should be required—some students might not want to present their papers aloud, so the presentations should be a matter of choice.

Eminent Domain

When a government wants to complete a large public project that will benefit many people, it sometimes becomes necessary for the government to take control of private property that belongs to private citizens. This governmental power is known as eminent domain. Under most eminent domain laws, individual property owners are reimbursed or paid for the value of their property that is taken. Even though a governments practice of eminent domain can be a disturbance for people whose property is taken, the law allows governments to complete public projects that are advantageous for society as a whole.
