Teamwork can be highly effective in both the workplace and the classroom.However,when team assignments are not carefully planned,some team members may become”freeloaders”;that is,they may take advantage of the hard work of others and share in the team’s success without contributing to it.This phenomenon is known as the freeloader effect.One way that managers and teachers can avoid the freeloader effect is by making each team member accountable for a particular part of the work that is being carried out by the team.
