The university hopes that the extra hour will help students come to class better rested and more ready to learn. The change will also provide professors with more time at the beginning of the working day to prepare for their classes.

Incentive Subsidy
Sometimes governments want to encourage people to purchase products that will benefit them, as well as the society as a whole. Since people may be hesitant or reluctant to buy these products if they have a high price, a government can provide extra motivation to encourage people to purchase such products by offering an incentive subsidy. With an incentive subsidy, the government helps to reduce the price of the product for individual buyers. By subsidizing these purchases and thus making them less expensive, the government can increase the number of individuals purchasing these products, thus benefiting the entire society.
Explain how the example from the lecture illustrates the concept of an incentive subsidy.
