Suggested Change to Geology Trip
Each summer the geology department offers a two-week research trip to Peru. This is an amazing educational opportunity, and it would be great if more geology students could actually take advantage of it To help with this. I think the trip should be shortened and moved to the week of spring break: Many students have conflicts with jobs and internships over the summer-so if the rip were held over spring break it would be easier for students to attend. Also, a weeklong trip would be much less expensive than the longer trip and m sure students would appreciate the reduced cost.

Plant Habituation
When an event occurs that could be an indication of danger a plant may react in some way to protect itself Sometimes, however, an event that at first appears threatening turns out to be harmless. If the plant repeatedly experiences this type of event and is not harmed, it may stop reacting defensively This phenomenon is known as habituation. When a plant becomes accustomed, or habituated, to a harmless event, it stops using its defenses unnecessarily. This allows the plant to better perform other activities that are necessary for its survival.
