Task 2
Reading
Garden tours
The university recently announced that the campus botanical garden which houses many beautiful and rare plant species, received funding from a generous donor. I think a great way to use this money would be to hire students who are studying botany to lead guided tours of the garden Although the garden is open to the public, no tours are currently offered. Tour guides could help visitors develop a deeper understanding of these rare and exotic plants so that they would have a more enjoyable experience at the garden. Also, by serving as guides botany students could benefit educationally, since it would give them a chance to share and reinforce what they learn in classes.
Sincerely, Natalie Greine

Frugal Engineering
While many technological devices have the capacity to improve people lives, they are often complex and expensive to manufacture, so they may not be available to everyone An approach called frugal engineering tries to address this problem: Scientists and engineers create frugal, extremely ow-cost versions of useful technological devices in order to make them more widely available. To do so, they typically remove any features or materials from the original device that are not essential. While the resulting inexpensive device may not be as precise or powerful as the original, it performs the same basic functions and can provide benefits to people on an even larger scale.
Explain how the example from the lecture illustrates the concept of the Frugal Engineering.
