Communication Amongst Trees
New evidence brought to light the possibility that trees and plants are able to communicate with each other in ways previously unknown to the scientific community. Recent research and observations have led to the belief that some species of trees are capable of both sending and receiving chemical alarm signals, also known as pheromones, as defensive measures. These airborne pheromones are received by neighboring trees of the same species which then initiate a chemical response in the leaves and act as a warning allowing trees to prepare their defenses.
