Task1
Some high schools require students to pass a physical fitness exam, in which they are tested on their ability to perform certain physical activities, such as running and swimming, in order to graduate. Do you think this is a good idea? Explain why or why not. Support your opinion with specific details and examples.
Task2
Reading:
Library Green Roof
In cities, people sometimes cover a rooftop with plants, such as grass and trees, creating what is called a green roof. I think the university should install a green roof on the campus library. The plants and soil would provide a layer of insulation to help maintain the building’s temperature inside, so it would lower the costs of heating and cooling, meaning the university would save money. Also, since it’s an urban campus, there aren’t many green spaces for studying outside, and creating a green roof on the library would give students a nice option for studying outdoors.
Sincerely,
Tom Harvey

Task3
Reading:
Overclaiming
People generally like to perceive themselves as being knowledgeable. This desire may lead them to overestimate their knowledge of a particular subject area, and to claim-and actually believe-that they are knowledgeable about aspects of that subject area that they are not, in fact, knowledgeable about. This phenomenon is known as overclaiming. People are especially likely to overclaim if they feel confident about their knowledge of a particular subject area and actually possess some knowledge about it. They are then more likely to believe that they are familiar with facts, terms, and concepts that they actually know nothing about.
Explain the concept of overclaiming and how the professor’s example illustrates it.
Task4
Using the professor’s points and examples, summarize the lecture about dams.
