Move the Media-Viewing Rooms

The university recently built media-viewing rooms in the library so groups of students can watch films together on a large screen in a setting like a small movie theater. These rooms are useful, but I think they should be moved out of the library. When the rooms are in use, the amount of noise coming from them makes it difficult to focus and study. A better location would be Smith Hall, where film and journalism students take classes. These students need to watch movies for class assignments, so having the viewing rooms close to their classrooms would be more convenient for them anyway.

End-of-History Illusion

People typically recognize that they were different in the past and that they had some different opinions and preferences than they currently do. However, people tend to think their opinions will not change much in the future, despite knowing that they did change in the past. This tendency is called the end-of-history illusion, because people believe that their personal history ends in the present, in the sense that their opinions are fully developed now and will no longer change. The end-of-history illusion may occur partly because it is so difficult for people to imagine future opinions that have not yet formed, so they assume no change will happen at all.
